Application Engineer MES

40 hours per week, hybrid in Venlo (NL)

What You’ll Do

In this role you develop systems for controlling the new production lines, but also make an important contribution to managing and renewing the existing MES systems. Within projects you take care of the design and implementation of an MES application based on standard platforms (Camstar, AspenTech). Together with internal stakeholders, such as Project Managers, System Architects and colleagues from Production Engineering you will map out the specifications for the new system. You will coordinate mutual expectations and needs.

With your professional knowledge and vision, you are a discussion partner. You know how to translate the needs of the customer and processes into a progressive design and configuration within the established application architecture.

Besides the design and implementation of MES systems for the new production lines, you ensure the continuity of the existing applications by resolving disruptions, answering users' questions and making functional changes at the request of the users.

For the construction of new MES systems and the maintenance of existing MES systems you sometimes work together with external IT service providers. Here you have the role of project leader and you manage the team of professionals. In this role you monitor progress, quality and budget.

You are the first point of contact for problems, new wishes and changes. You know like no other how to translate customer needs into solutions. You take care of the design and implementation of these solutions. Together with your colleagues, you contribute to the development of the working methods in the team. Your responsibilities also include setting up and maintaining the right development and (automated) test environment.

Who you’ll work with

You’ll be working closely with your direct colleagues within your own team as well as with colleagues from other ICS departments. Besides this your most important stakeholders are Production engineers, Operators and Team coaches.

What you’ll bring

We are looking for an ambitious, studious IT support professional who wants to excel in MES. Furthermore, you meet the following requirements:

  • Professional with a Bachelor degree in Technical Computing or Industrial Automation
  • About 5 experience with MES, preferably Camstar / Opcenter CR EX, as part of production automation. Relevant work experience within the manufacturing industry is preferred
  • Knowledge of ISA-88 and ISA-95
  • Demonstrated experience with .NET and XML, and the design, realization and maintenance of applications
  • Knowledge of SQL databases, Microsoft SSRS/SSIS/SSAS and Power BI is a plus
  • Experience with Agile project management (specifically Scrum) is a plus.
  • Through experience, able to organize and plan own work, maintain relationships with external parties and internal stakeholders, successful in leading small projects
  • You are enterprising, customer-oriented, quality conscious, analytically strong and see a challenge in preventing problems
  • You have good communication skills and an excellent command of the Dutch and English languages, both verbally and in writing

What You’ll Get From Us

We offer a challenging position, in which you can combine your technical as well as your social skills to reach your goals. In a dynamic environment, you will work together with customers and stakeholders within Canon Production Printing and the total Canon group worldwide.

Besides a challenging working environment you will receive an interesting package of employment conditions:

  • a competitive salary (range €4.000 - € 5.000- based on education and experience)
  • 38 vacation days
  • extra 13th Month pay (8,6%), Holiday Allowance (8%) and commuting allowance
  • hybrid working for a healthy work-life balance: the opportunity to work 50% at the office and 50% from home
  • a huge range of training and professional development opportunities
  • a laptop and smartphone
