Virtual Assistant for Operator Efficiency

Your assignment
Design a virtual advisor that supports operators on the print floor during active production. You’ll collaborate closely with our R&D and production teams, shaping the future of print operations by designing intelligent tools that empower people on the production floor.
You will:
- Investigate typical causes of interruptions, inefficiencies and quality issues during print shifts.
- Understand operator workflows and pain points.
- Conceptualize a virtual advisor that interacts with live machine data.
- Explore AR-based overlays or dashboards for real-time troubleshooting and guidance.
- Prototype a dashboard or assistant that interacts with live machine data and simulate its use during a shift of a print operator.
Your profile
- You are currently studying Interaction Design, Product Design, or a related field at MBO, BSc, or MSc level.
- You thrive on user-centered design challenges and are excited to apply the latest technologies (AI, AR, IoT) to real-world problems.
- You have strong skills in UX/UI design, including:
- Creating intuitive, operator-friendly interfaces for industrial environments.
- Designing workflows that support users under time pressure.
- Prototyping with tools such as Figma, Unity or similar platforms.
- Applying analytical thinking to identify and solve operational inefficiencies.
- Integrating live data and real-time feedback into your designs.
- You are curious about technical possibilities and eager to learn about AI, AR, and IoT in the context of print production.
- You communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including print operators.
- As of February or March 2026 you are available for 4 to 6 months, for a minimum of 3 days per week.
- This assignment can be an internship or a graduation project.
