Bsc: Internship Mechanical Engineering - Serviceable printing surface of a large printer
Date: 8 May 2025
Location: NL
Company: Canon Production Printing
Bsc: Internship Mechanical Engineering
Subtitle: Develop a concept to make the print surface (or the manifolds beneath) accessible for service actions.
Are you a mechanical engineering student looking for a challenging graduation project? Do you have a knack for technical creativity and enjoy developing new concepts? We are looking for you!
Your Assignment
For some printers, the print surface (or the vacuum manifolds underneath) are not accessible for service. Either because they cannot be reached, or because the flatness requirements are so high that re-adjusting them at the customer is too difficult. Therefore, a lot of effort is done to make these parts very robust. However, in case such a part still fails, the entire machine needs to be replaced.
The challenge for this student is to come up with a concept for either of the parts to be serviceable, while remaining within the currently available space of the existing printer. In other words, we want to be able to fix these parts at the customer by using a different construction.
