Job Description
Bsc: internship Physics

Experimental Investigation and Research of High Viscosity Jetting

Are you interested in innovation and not afraid of a challenge? Would you like to dive deeper into jetting technologies? Then we are looking for you!

Your assignment

In this assignment, you will explore and investigate the principles and challenges associated with jetting high-viscosity fluids. The focus will be on understanding the physical mechanisms, experimental setups, and applications of jetting technologies in industrial and research contexts. You will conduct a literature review into the fundamentals of high-viscosity inkjet printing, design and/or analyse experiments, and present findings that contribute to the understanding of jetting behaviour in viscous regimes. If you are interested in innovation, creative and not afraid of a challenge, then this is an ideal assignment for you.

The assignment will consist of the following steps:

  1. Literature review
    • Summarize current research on high-viscosity jetting.
    • Identify common experimental techniques and measurement tools.
  1. Training to operate jetting equipment

    • Get training on how to operate the high viscose jetting set up.

  1. Experiments design and performance

    • Design, run experiments and collect data.

  1. Data interpretation and discussion
    • Interpret results in terms of jet stability, droplet formation, and flow regimes.
    • Compare findings with theoretical models or published data.
  1. Report and presentation
    • Submit a written report (2000–3000 words) including figures, tables, and references.
    • Prepare a short presentation (5–10 minutes) summarizing key insights.

Learning Objectives:

By completing this assignment, you will be able to:

  • Understand the fluid dynamics involved in jetting high-viscosity materials.
  • Identify key parameters affecting jet formation, stability, and breakup.
  • Analyse experimental methods used to study high-viscosity jetting.
  • Communicate scientific findings effectively through written and visual formats.

Your profile

In order to complete this assignment, you need to be an out of the box thinker and comfortable with taking initiative. Next to this, you are:

  • Studying Physics (Bachelor 3rd or 4th year)
  • Looking for an internship that sets an intriguing research challenge
  • Able to survey such a project and work independently

What’s in it for you?

  • A challenging assignment with skilled coaching
  • Internship/ Graduation compensation up to €500, - per month
  • Travel cost compensation if you don’t have an ‘OV-week card’
  • The possibility to network with professionals inside and outside your field of expertise, thanks to our diversity of disciplines which you will work with
  • With our company values collaboration, innovation and ownership, we strive to bring out the best in each other, expand boundaries and feel empowered to take ownership of our work.
