Are you a HBO or WO Organic Chemistry student who is looking for a graduation assignment or an internship? Are you in for a challenge to develop sustainable UVgel inks for inkjet printing application? We are looking for you!

Your assignment
Canon UVgel technology is specially-developed for advanced printing based on UV curing principles. This technology retains the advantages of prevailing printer technologies, while eliminating many of the compromises. One of the successful products is our lately released Colorado series. In the context of sustainability, more eco-friendly inks are desired. For this, we are developing a new generation of UVgel inks with integrated functions. With this new technology, we aim to broaden the application fields of our products ranging from high-quality graphics to sustainable packaging.
For this assignment, you will work in the Sustainability group of the UV ink department to develop new synthesis routes for oligomeric acrylates. You will make systematic variations in molecular weight, molecular structure, reactivity etc., and evaluate how this impacts print quality parameters such as adhesion and robustness. The majority of the assignment will focus on developing the synthesis procedure and synthesizing the various acrylates. Depending on personal preference, we can adjust the assignment to include to a lesser or greater degree topics such as: Ink formulation, print assessment, and chemical analysis. Similarly, the level of the assignment can be adjusted to fit students ranging from WO-graduation to ambitious HBO 3rd years.

Your profile
•    You have a research background in chemical synthesis, preferably polymer synthesis
•    You are experienced with materials characterization, for instance by DSC or IR spectroscopy
•    You are a result-driven and self-motivated team player
•    You are available for 5-9 months for a minimum of 4 days per week; start date is flexible

What’s in it for you?
•    A challenging assignment with skilled coaching
•    Internship/ Graduation compensation of €500,- per month
•    Travel cost compensation if you don’t have an ‘OV-weekcard’
•    The possibility to network with professionals inside and outside your field of expertise, thanks to our diversity of disciplines which you will work with
•    With our company values collaboration, innovation and ownership, we strive to bring out the best in each other, expand boundaries and feel empowered to take ownership of our work.
