Bsc/Msc: Internship Industrial Engineering - Designing lean & smart shopfloor information flows
Are you an Industrial Engineering (or related) student looking for a challenging internship? Are you interested in optimizing information flows on the shopfloor using smart technologies? We are looking for you!

Your assignment
In a 24/7 production environment maximizing the factory's output and quality is a key priority. With multiple shifts it is even more crucial that the right information is always available and shared at the right place. Without accurate information, the factory's status remains unclear, making it difficult for operators and supporting departments to effectively identify and address the issues on the shopfloor.

Currently, operators on the shopfloor use various methods to share information with each other and supporting departments leading to inefficiencies (seen as ‘waste’). For instance the same information might be stored in multiple places. Besides sharing information, operators also proactively look up information in a Factory Document System about the way of working. Can you find a smart (AI) solution, that will support the operator?

All in all, there is sufficient potential to improve the current information flows, including creating smart AI solutions that will support the operators in their daily work.
By following a DMAIC project methodology , you will determine what information is adding value and how the necessary information flows can be optimally designed.
This project takes place within the EPG and Toner departments at Manufacturing 2 at Canon Production Printing in Venlo.
