Job Description
Bsc: Graduation Assignment - Engineering / ICT / Applied AI / Mechatronics

HBO: Graduation Assignment - Engineering / ICT / Applied AI / Mechatronics
Design and validation of an AI Vision system for defect detection on a Silicon Belt

Are you ready to prove yourself with a graduation assignment that combines AI, vision and industrial hardware? Do you want to design, implement and scientifically validate an AI solution that runs in real time on embedded hardware?

Your assignment
This graduation assignment focuses on the design, implementation and validation of an AI Vision system that automatically detects defects on a Silicon Belt. You will work on a real industrial challenge and deliver a fully working prototype supported by a well founded graduation report.
You will develop an end to end solution using an NVIDIA Jetson Thor board in combination with a Starvis camera. Starting from the industrial problem definition, you will translate requirements into a technical architecture and make motivated design choices.
Key elements of the assignment include:
•    Analysing the Silicon Belt process and identifying relevant defect types
•    Designing a vision and AI architecture suitable for embedded, real time operation
•    Collecting, annotating and analysing image data
•    Developing, training and optimising AI models for defect detection
•    Deploying and validating the solution on the NVIDIA Jetson Thor platform
•    Evaluating performance, robustness and limitations of the system

You will work independently, with coaching from experienced engineers, and take ownership of both the technical solution and the final graduation documentation.

What makes this assignment unique and fun to do? Why should you choose this assignment?
This is not a predefined exercise. You are responsible for the technical direction, trade offs and validation of your solution. You will combine AI theory with hands on engineering and see your work running live on industrial hardware. The result is a graduation project with real impact and strong relevance for your future career.

Your profile

You are currently studying an HBO Bachelor program in a technical field such as:
•    Electrical Engineering
•    Mechatronics
•    Computer Science / ICT
•    Applied Artificial Intelligence

You enjoy analysing complex problems and translating them into practical solutions.

To successfully complete this graduation assignment, you have:
•    Experience or strong interest in programming (for example Python and/or C/C++)
•    Interest in machine learning and computer vision
•    Analytical skills to evaluate and validate technical solutions
•    A structured way of working and the ability to document and justify design choices

You are available for a graduation assignment of 5–6 months, starting around your preferred date, for a minimum of 4 days per week. This assignment is intended as an HBO graduation assignment.

What’s in it for you?
•    A challenging assignment with skilled coaching
•    Internship/ Graduation compensation up to €500,- per month
•    Travel cost compensation if you don’t have an ‘OV-weekcard’
•    The possibility to network with professionals inside and outside your field of expertise, thanks to our diversity of disciplines which you will work with
