Your job
You will work on upgrading our Motorlab to ensure it is ready for the future. The main goal is to transition the lab’s systems from Windows 10 to Windows 11, update key software and hardware components, and improve usability for your colleagues.
Possible directions and activities:
•    Investigate and help implement the upgrade from Matlab 2015b to Matlab 2024b, ensuring compatibility with our custom software.
•    Assist in replacing the outdated GPIB interface with a modern GPIB USB solution.
•    Support the upgrade of the motion controller (from NI 7330 to a Windows 11-compatible alternative) and help integrate it into the existing setup.
•    Update and test Matlab files that interact with the hardware, ensuring all new interfaces work smoothly.
•    Propose and test improvements to make the Motorlab easier and more attractive for researchers to use.

You’ll be working at the intersection of hardware and software, directly impacting the usability and future-readiness of our R&D lab. You’ll collaborate with experienced engineers and see your work make a real difference in daily research activities. This is a hands-on assignment with visible results and opportunities to learn about both legacy and cutting-edge lab systems.

 


Your profile
•    You are currently studying HBO Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field. 
•    You enjoy solving technical challenges and are eager to learn about both hardware and software integration. 
•    Experience with Matlab/Simulink is a required. 
•    You are available for at least 6 months for at least 1 day per week on-site. 
•    You are proactive, hands-on, and not afraid to ask questions.
