Bsc/Msc: Internship - Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science or related
Understanding and predicting print quality acceptance using real-world printer data
Are you a Bsc/Msc student which is looking for a graduation assignment/internship? Are you ready for the challenge to improve our diagnostics using real-world printer data, bringing real impact for the company? We are looking for you!
Your assignment
Today, it is difficult to objectively determine when print quality is acceptable and when it becomes a problem. Small print artefacts may be tolerated in some applications, like printing large banners. However, for other applications such as photo-books they are unacceptable. You will investigate whether it is possible to identify groups of print quality scans that customers implicitly accepted, using printer data such as usage patterns, service events and operational settings. Based on this, you will explore how customer profiles can be linked to different print quality expectations and detected print quality artefacts. Possible directions you can explore include:
• Identifying and clustering print quality scans that were used without customer complaints or service interventions
• Analysing correlations between customer usage profiles and tolerated print quality
• Preparing and validating data that can be used to train AI models for print quality monitoring
You will work with real data from high-end production printers that operate in professional print environments worldwide. Your work contributes directly to smarter diagnostics and better service support for customers. Instead of defining quality in theory, you will learn how quality is judged in practice.
The scope of this project will be based on the requirements of your college/university. Similarly, you will have freedom to explore, experiment and shape the research direction, while being coached by experienced engineers and researchers.
Your profile
• You are currently studying a BSc or MSc in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science or a related field.
• You enjoy working with complex datasets and see it as a challenge to extract meaning from imperfect or incomplete data. You are comfortable with programming (preferably Python) and have experience with data analysis, statistics and/or machine learning.
• You are enrolled at a college/university and are looking for a mandatory part of your curriculum, for which you will also receive credits.
What’s in it for you?
• A challenging assignment with skilled coaching
• Internship/ Graduation compensation of €500,- per month
• Travel cost compensation if you don’t have an ‘OV-weekcard’
• The possibility to network with professionals inside and outside your field of expertise, thanks to our diversity of disciplines which you will work with
