Data Scientist Procurement
40 hours per week, hybrid in Venlo (NL)
This role is part of the global Procurement organization, consisting of approximately 60 professionals. The organization is structured into multiple teams operating globally from Venlo, Poing, and Singapore, collectively responsible for the procurement of all products and services.Key stakeholders are manufacturing, and R&D, who are jointly responsible for the development, manufacturing, and on-time delivery of best‑in‑class, high‑mix, low‑volume CPP products. Besides these stakeholders our suppliers are also key for our success. The manufacturing sites are in different stages of their technical and economic life cycles, each presenting distinct challenges. Production lines consist of advanced, high‑tech equipment utilizing a wide range of technologies, including micro‑precision manufacturing, cleanroom environments, as well as process installations for the production of toner and inks.
What you’ll do
In this role, you deliver data‑driven insights and advanced analytics that empower Procurement teams to make informed decisions and strengthen the support provided to Procurement Account Managers. You contribute to the development of procurement data products and dashboards, while generating insights that support negotiations, trend analysis, and strategic decision‑making through both Operational Excellence tools and exploratory analytics.
A key focus is improving data quality and making data more accessible in a structured and sustainable way. This provides the foundation for future predictive models, such as spend forecasting and supplier risk management. Alongside cleaning and enriching procurement data, you also work on developing AI‑driven models and tools that enhance Procurement processes.
You will also play a crucial role in rolling out analytics and AI tools across Procurement teams, ensuring continuous improvement of master data quality through effective monitoring and follow‑up. Alignment with our Operational Excellence team on data improvement and system upgrade initiatives is an important part of the role. You need to connect to support seamless system and data integration. The impact of this position spans multiple areas:
- Maintain and improve data quality and making data more accessible in a structured and sustainable way
- Support predictive analytics to anticipate market trends, optimize costs, and strengthen supplier risk management.
- AI‑driven supplier analytics that help identify best‑fit suppliers based on quality, competitiveness, and compliance.
- Increased efficiency through automation and smart AI tools, enabling Procurement to focus more on tactical and strategic work.
Who you’ll work with
You will work within an international team of Procurement professionals. While your home base will be in Venlo, you will collaborate closely with colleagues in Singapore and Munich (Poing). You will report directly to the Procurement Manager, but your
success depends on actively engaging with all teams and stakeholders across the Procurement organization. In addition, you will work closely with our Operational Excellence team to align with both the short‑ and long‑term system landscape and
improvement initiatives.
What you bring
To succeed in this role you need;
- A strong foundation in structural data improvement, ERP systems, automation, and AI.
- We are looking for someone with 2–5 years of experience in this domain, ideally gained in a production or manufacturing environment.
- A Masters degree preferable in Applied Mathematics, Industrial engineering, Data Sciece or Computer Science
- Experience with SAP, database technologies, and hands‑on AI or machine‑learning applications will give you a significant advantage.
