Msc: Internship Data Analytics - Finding the external factors, influencing service costs of printers
Are you a WO data science student who is looking for a internship assignment? Are you ready to commit your data analytical skills to improve our business insights? We are looking for you!

Your assignment
Canon Production Printing (CPP) develops and produces a variety of commercial size printers for the business to business market. Our inkjet printers are designed for high volume printing through a combination of high speed and low operational costs, while retaining high quality and flexibility.

Once the printers are at customers, our service organization ensures our customers can benefit optimally by making sure the printer runs smoothly. The service efforts and related costs vary widely between customers. We want to understand better what factors influence the service costs at individual customers and how this translates to the entire population.

Goal of this project is to develop data analytical tools to look for influencing factors in a data set with many parameters. The factors should be explainable to the business and therefor part of the assignment is presentation/visualization of the results in such a way they can be used for business decisions.

The character of this assignment is explorative. Can you come up with the best approach, enabling us to apply your work to future analyses?

Challenges for you are:
-Get to know the data set and organize to enable fast and reproducible data analysis
-Use advanced data analytical techniques to find the factors influencing service costs, like the age of the printer, seasonality and part quality. Transform it into a tool that can be used by our domain experts for future analyses
-Visualize your results in a clear way
-Deal with large amounts of data.  Our printers log a lot of detailed information. It is up to you to aggregate or filter on the right level . You’ll do this base on discussion with domain experts.
-Explain both the behavior of individual printers  and the behavior of the entire population
