Software Quality Engineer

32-40 hours per week, hybrid in Venlo (NL)

 

As a software quality engineer at Canon Production Printing you will work in a project team that develops high-tech productive print system. Focus is on the system software, which connects the printer with customer workflow software, up to and including the real time embedded software within the printer. The system has a UI that enables the printer operator to use the printer to produce output in an efficient way.

The project team consists of people that work in multiple agile development teams. You are member of the quality team that focuses on the verification and validation of the system and real-time behavior of the integrated product. You verify and validate the system behavior, both manually as well as automated (where possible), of a complete printer product with focus on the total system software.

 

What you’ll do

  • Assessing the software requirements and related feature specifications
  • Steer the quality processes of the software teams via a clear and agreed test strategy and plan to find bugs as early as possible in the development process, to safeguard the continuous excellent performance of our printers in the field (shift left)
  • Align on function, unit, and system verification and validation plans and corresponding results and monitor the improvement actions
  • Communication and alignment with Service & Support and other stakeholders in the organization
  • Steering the improvement actions necessary to solve issues at customers
  • Organize and perform regular system testing (also Total Tests) to monitor the status of the total printer development project.
  • Safeguard the transfer of knowledge by proper release documentation to other sectors (Manufacturing, Service, BU)

 

Who you’ll work with

Our international organization has a flat hierarchy, so you’ll be working with lots of other people in an open, creative multidisciplinary environment. That includes colleagues of other departments, designers, developers, and architects.

 

What you bring

  • A bachelor diploma in the field of software engineering
  • Preferably 3-5 years of experience in software development and experienced in quality testing
  • A strong quality mindset using the up-to-date software quality tools
  • Good communication and influencing skills in English and Dutch and not afraid to convey a “bad” message
  • Interested to develop new working methods and tools to improve the software quality and embed these efficiently
  • Healthy career ambitions
  • A hands-on attitude
  • Preferably live nearby Venlo
