Job Description
WO: Internship Mechanical engineering

Design and Simulation of a Nitrogen blanket generator

Are you the WO mechanical engineering student with passion for designing and simulating flow systems? Are you creative in proposing new solutions, and have the analytical skills to get high quality designs? We are looking for you!

Your assignment
As an intern/graduate mechanical engineering we provide an opportunity to combine creativity with solid design experience in the flow domain. This assignment starts with defining the scope of the assignment, which you validate with your coach. This is the basis for the design cycle, where you use a model based approach to do a design proposal which can be verified with hardware at the end of your internship.

For this assignment we are looking for a nitrogen blanket design which we can use in combination with our UV Curing systems. The goal of this Nitrogen blanket system is to provide a smooth isolating layer of nitrogen at the ink surface, to prevent oxygen from penetrating the ink during the UV Curing reaction. The assignment requires simulating the expected flows in the printer environment and optimizing the blanket generation hardware to minimize the required nitrogen to realize a smooth blanket.

Your profile

  • You study mechanical engineering or a related field with a specialization in flow.
  • You're capable of working with Comsol or a similar flow simulation package.
  • You're available from February/March 2026 for at least 5 months for 5 days a week.

What’s in it for you?

  • Internship/ Graduation compensation of €500,- per month
  • Travel cost compensation if you don’t have an ‘OV-weekcard’
  • The possibility to network with professionals inside and outside your field of expertise, thanks to our diversity of disciplines which you will work with
