Electrical Designer
32-40 hours per week, in Venlo (NL)

 

As Electrical Designer at Canon Production Printing, you add value to our products by designing (sub)modules in an multidisciplinary team and context. In this role you design high power electrical systems and make sure our complete systems comply with certification requirements worldwide.

 

What will be your job like as Electrical Designer?

In our product development projects at R&D you are responsible and focusing on high power electronics distribution network to power the internals of our machines.


Together with architects you specify and agree on requirements based on customer’s demands. It’s your task to come up with technical designs and concepts that meet these objectives, properly balancing time, quality, performance, accuracy, interdisciplinary interactions and taking cost into account.


Within the project you collaborate with colleagues from other disciplines. You review your ideas and jointly develop smart creative solutions on a system level that meet the overall project objectives. You test and review your design(s) by building prototypes to proof the feasibility of the routes you have identified.

 

You make sure that our systems comply with the various certification requirements, like Machine Directive. You keep in close contact with the certification bodies to make sure certifications are there in time. Next to that you play a role in keeping our own certification test-lab up-to-date and make sure we pass the regular audits by the certification bodies.

 

In this role you are the subject expert on high power systems and machine level certifications. You are able to share this knowledge effectively with colleagues.

  • Make sure your designs are correctly implemented
  • Communicate and present effectively in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Assure compliance with worldwide certification standards for our machines

 

What You Bring

  • Master degree
  • Electrical background with strong feeling for other disciplines like mechanics
  • Knowledge of Machine Directive and how to apply norms in the (printer) industry
  • Affinity with power distribution up to 250KVA
  • Eye for detail and able to fully engineer designs to our production facilities
  • Expert in thinking on a system / platform level
  • Team player, hands on, practical, analytic and goal oriented
  • You like to work in cross-functional teams
  • Fluent in English, verbal and written.
