Food Safety Expert
40 hours per week, hybrid in Venlo (NL)
In our versatile R&D (± 700 employees in Venlo, the Netherlands, and ± 350 in Poing, Germany) we deliver printing products to the market with excellent speed and quality marks. New printing products are developed with the goal to increase productivity of the customer and enable wider applications of printed materials. We sell our products globally and therefore we have to conform to a broad range of regulations. Our Product Quality, Safety and Environment Department ensures compliancy with the global regulations and standards. Here your expertise in developing compliant products for the market of food contact materials is needed. With your collaboration with R&D and manufacturing teams, we make sure the printers, scanners and finishing accessories are fit to produce and work with food contact materials.
What You’ll Do
You have a role in the Product Safety and Environment team supporting R&D. You will be involved in all activities of ink and machine development regarding printing of packaging material suitable for indirect food contact.
You will work in a small international team of experts in the CPP Quality & Sustainability (Q&S) organization, with close contact to colleagues from R&D, Manufacturing and Service across sites.
Your key responsibilities are:
- Guide the product development organization with your knowledge and experience in the area of safe food contact materials to make the right choices and designs
- Toxicological and migration evaluation w.r.t food contact materials
- Support the manufacturing organization to execute food safety related assessments at suppliers and also internally
- Collaborate with the service organization for critical customers’ requests regarding food safety
- Provide and contribute to food safety awareness trainings in CPP
- Participate in internal audits to continuously improve our food safety related processes
What You Bring
We are looking for an experienced food safety professional with good networking skills.
Besides that, you:
- have a master degree in food safety, chemistry, toxicology, or chemical process engineering
- have at least 5 years of experience in a role related to (indirect) food contact materials
- have knowledge and experience in worldwide regulations of food contact material
- have toxicological expertise and experience with migration evaluation
- are fluent in spoken and written English
- are willing to travel as needed
Any of the following would be interesting extra qualifications:
- hands-on experience in GMP assessments of machinery
- practical experience as auditor (preferably ISO9001 trained)
- Knowledge in chemical regulations (GHS, CLP, REACh) is a Plus
