Ever wanted to challenge yourself in analytical chemistry – always wanted to push the boundaries of an analytical system?
Are you an HBO applied chemistry student and up for a challenge to improve our analytical measurement system with challenging barriers to overcome? Are you interested in working in a professional and diverse working environment, where planning and controlling is key, you can think out of the box and communicate with multiple departments? We are looking for you!

Your assignment
Raw materials have to be checked on whether they contain inorganic impurities or not. These impurities generally have low levels of concentration and are therefore difficult to detect. Therefor it is necessary to know how to correctly prepare samples for ICP OES measurements and find the optimal measurement settings.
Your assignment will be to help us improve the existing methods for measuring incoming raw materials more reliably, reproducible, and quantitively accurate, i.e. adapting the system parameters or implement wavelengths which are better to use for certain elements. This will be compared against ICP OES multiple elemental standards with known concentrations. Within the assignment you will also be informing R&D departments which also have an interest in the result.

With your internship you will be part of the Quality Assurance department who supports the ink manufacturing departments. This assignment is designed for you to gain a solid experience by using ICP OES. You will be doing scientifical literature research, chemical analysis, elemental analysis, reports, graphs, and presentations.
