Mechanical Designer

32-40 hours per week, in Venlo (NL)

 

Adding value to our products by designing (sub)modules in an efficient and multidisciplinary context.

 

What will be your job like as a mechanical designer?

In our product development projects at R&D you are responsible for and focusing on mechanical & mechatronic topics like accurate positioning, paper handling, structural dynamics.

 

Together with other disciplines you solve issues and enhance products by creating new/improved designs within the constraints of existing products. Maintaining a good balance between time, quality, accuracy, interdisciplinary interactions and cost is essential.

 

Within the project you collaborate with colleagues from other disciplines. You review your ideas and jointly develop smart creative solutions that meet the overall project objectives. You test and review your design(s) by using various available simulation tools. You will be testing and proving your design by fitting prototypes in the machines and running tests.

 

Typical activities:

  • Designing of mechanical modules.
  • Responsible for converting system architecture into feasible designs.
  • Creating new and improved designs for future and existing products
  • Maintain a balance between effort and costs
  • Troubleshooting complex issues in R&D and/or in the factory
  • Communicate and cooperate effectively in a multi-disciplinary team

 

What you bring

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Knowledge and skills in design principles is also a big plus
  • Pragmatic approach is your middle name
  • Eye for detail and excellent analytical skills
  • Skilled in Model Based Design (i.e. FEM, preferably NX/Simcenter)
  • Team player, hands on, practical, analytical and goal-oriented
  • You like to work in cross-functional teams
  • Structured and good in keeping overview; being able to handle a diversity of topics simultaneously
  • Fluent in English, verbally and in writing. Profound knowledge of Dutch is a big plus
  • Permitted to work in the Netherlands
  • Relevant working experience is a plus
  • Available for 32-40 hours per week
